Meet Dr. Joseph Karlen, DDS

Dr. Joseph Karlen was born and raised in Sussex, Wisconsin. He attended Marquette University, in Milwaukee, WI, for both his undergraduate studies and dental school. Upon completion of dental school in 2015, he completed a 1-year fellowship at Tri-County Dental Clinic in Appleton, WI, which focused on providing dental care for rural communities. Dr. Karlen continued to practice general dentistry until 2019, when he moved on to pursue specializing in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He completed a 1-year internship followed by his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Upon completion of residency, Dr. Karlen practiced oral surgery in Fayetteville, NC, prior to relocating to the Springfield area.

Dr. Karlen is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, Missouri Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

In his free time, Dr. Karlen enjoys traveling the world, exploring the outdoors, working on home improvement projects, fixing cars, and watching football on the weekends with his wife and dog.
